This Adorable Dog Proves Love Matters More Than Food

There’s nothing better than enjoying a meal together with your family after a long, tiring day at work. There’s something magical about food that connects us all. Even one American bully knew how special mealtime with the family was, and he even took his time to show his appreciation to his owner!

If you have a dog at home, you know how food drives them crazy, and they’re always eager for a meal or a treat, but Rolls knows that family means more than the food he eats. In a TikTok video shared by his owner, Rolls can be seen wagging his tail while happily eating his bowl of dog food.

In the middle of eating his food, Rolls looks up and sees his owner filming him while eating. He leaves his food and hurries to his owner to greet him. In the video, Rolls was seen brushing his body to his owner, which means showing affection in dog language.

Some pointed out how cute Rolls’ wiggles and crunches are, while others expressed how they want to pet him. True enough, Rolls and his owner shared a feel-good video that made people from all over the world smile.

Inside a Dog’s Mind

Admit it; while our dog is showering us with kisses, you can’t help but think about whether your dog really loves you or they are just sticking around for food and treats. While you don’t doubt your dog’s love towards you, it’s interesting to know what goes in their little mind. Find out now.

A few years ago, Gregory Berns, a neuroscientist from Emory University, wondered the same thing with his pug Newton. Every night, Newton would climb Berns’ and his wife’s bed to sleep with them. He would always curl up towards Newton as he sleeps. This went on for years until Newton grew old and died eventually at 97 years of age in a dog.

As Berns is busy thinking about what Newton thinks of him, he saw dogs being trained by the military to help catch Osama bin Laden. It was then that Berns thought that if dogs could remain calm during a raid, then he could train his new pet terrier to lie still for an MRI machine to scan their brain and understand how they think.

Since then, he has already scanned the brains of 100 dogs and published two books that tackle about canine cognition.

How Dogs Perceive Their Owners

The question of whether dogs really love their owners still stands. For the longest time, dogs have been believed to be inferior to wolves. This information was from a popular 1985 research from University of Michigan researchers. They found out that wolves could unlock the gate of the mechanism, but domesticated dogs can’t do so. This led to a belief that dogs aren’t smart creatures.

However, it all changed in the late 90s and early 2000s when ethologists Vilmos Csányi and Ádám Miklósi. Csányi was followed by a dog in the Hungarian mountains for five miles. This led to the couple bringing home the dog, and Csányi discovered how they are able to live with humans, which is a complicated task, unlike wolves, who can’t be around humans. The two found out that human owners and dogs formed bonds in a way that a child and human parent do.

The dog and their owners were placed in an unfamiliar room with things to explore. The dogs and their owners were found to display the same behaviors that are identical to each other. This is what developmental psychologists found with an infant and their mother.

Rolls’ behavior reminds me a lot of my pet dachshund named Longga. Every single time I placed his food in front of him, he would come running to me first while wagging his tail. I guess it’s how he says thank you for the food and appreciates my gesture. It warms my heart when Longga does this since, in a way, it makes me feel special. I do hope my other dogs do the same, too. 🤣
