Losing a dog may not only be stressful to owners but also to dogs as well. All they want is a little adventure, so they take the opportunity when they see that the door is swinging open. However, they may not find their way back home, and this is when they realize the importance of listening to their hooman. Such a thing happened to a German Shepherd from Odessa, Texas, named Chico, but it’s a good thing that she knows what to do.
It was the wee hours of the morning, and the police station in Odessa, Texas, may seem like a drag since they had no active duty to attend to. It was then that they were visited by an unusual visitor who would wake them up.
The police officers and staff were surprised by the appearance of the dog Chico who’s turning himself in, as it looks like he was lost. He was in the lobby, greeting the receiving officer. Puzzled, the police officers still welcomed him in and accompanied him while they took action on his case.

The police station even shared on their Facebook page about the happy Chico who strolled around the police station. They were wondering if he wanted to apply for a K-9 position, but it looks like he has another thing in mind.
Sergeant Rusty Martin was one of those who responded and received the friendly Chico. Martin noticed that Chico didn’t appear as distressed, unlike the usual reaction of dogs who just ran away from home. Instead, he looks like he wants to have a good time while he’s outside, so Martin and his colleagues give in to the demands of Chico and throw a tennis ball around to keep him occupied.

But while they’re having a good time, the police still do their responsibility as Chico is one of their town residents. They wanted him to find his home, so they inspected him until they noticed a collar. However, the ID tag had gone missing as it looked like it fell off. The police then called the animal control to have his microchip checked. But before the animal control unit came, Chico was nowhere to be found as he had run quickly outside after noticing that he left home for a long time already.
According to Martin, they searched for Chico, but they couldn’t find him already. They were relieved to know that he had gone home to his owner. It seems like Chico solved his own case.

Chico Is Home
Martin and his colleagues were impressed that Chico had gone home by himself without their help. It looks like Chico just hung around the police officers, knowing they might need some energizer as they cover their night shift. Martin said that Chico is welcomed to the station anytime.
Edward Alvardo, Chico’s owner didn’t even know that Chico slipped off their open gate as he was asleep during that time. He didn’t even know that his one-year-old German Shepherd had gone viral if it wasn’t for his nephew, who shared him the good news.

Alvardo shared that he actually wanted to train Chico to be a guard dog at his father’s store, but after what transpired the night before, it looks like Chico isn’t ready to take his job seriously because if you think about it, he urged the police officers for a little playtime with him.
Looks like this is another case closed for the police department but it was actually Chico who found his way home.

From The Club
I would panic every time my dog would run outside when I left our door open. I just hope that they will be like Chico and report to the police if they can’t find their way back home. But in Chico’s case, I think he’s just bored, and he wanted someone to play with him in the wee hours of the morning. But the part that really made me laugh was when Chico’s owner didn’t know where he had gone for the night.
