This proves that cats and dogs can tolerate each other. Even better, they can be a source of comfort to one another.
The presence of a loved one has the power to ease our anxieties. It’s not just true for humans, but also for our canine companions. They feel more secure when we’re around, especially if they’re struggling with separation anxiety. However, there are times when we have to be away from our dogs. When that happens, to whom can they turn to if they need some sort of reassurance? For an adorable dog named Joule, an orange tabby cat turned out to be her source of comfort.
Like many pups, Joule found it difficult to stay calm when left alone at home for long periods of time. Her anxieties became more apparent soon after Brenna adopted her. A glimmer of hope came when another pet joined the family, Kelvin, an orange tabby cat. Brenna was unsure how Joule would react to having a feline companion but it turns out that they enjoy each other’s company. Brenna only found out about their heartwarming bond after reviewing the footage from her home’s security cameras.

Joule’s Battle with Anxiety
Brenna used to call Joule a “velcro dog” because she sticks to her like glue. The dog’s separation anxiety was severe, especially when Brenna brought her home for the first time. Even when left alone for a short period, Joule would become extremely anxious.

To give the best possible care to the pup, Brenna worked with a professional dog behaviorist. They found ways to make Joule feel more secure, but sometimes anxiousness would still take over. Everything changed when Brenna adopted Kelvin. As soon as the orange cat reached home, he and Joule quickly became friends, and later on, inseparable.

Kelvin’s Sweet Companionship
Joule seemed to have found a sense of calm whenever she’s with Kelvin. They play, nap, and lounge together, even Brenna was surprised about how quickly they got along. Brenna had zero clue on how close the two animals were until she reviewed a footage from the security cameras in her home.
Instead of seeing an anxious Joule, what Brenna saw was beyond what she expected. Joule was curled up on the couch with Kelvin and the two were snuggling. Both of them seemed calm and Kelvin looked like he was offering the comfort that Joule needed at that time. The orange cat stayed with her during the entire day, offering her companionship and warmth.

Brenna shared the footage online and said that moments of Joule and Kelvin being together happen every weekday during the eight hours they’re away. The video went viral and captured the hearts of many, touched by the beautiful between friendship between the two animals.
In a unique twist of fate, Brenna shared that her two pets had temporary names when they were still living in their respective shelters. Joule was called “Sandals,” while Kelvin was nicknamed “Socks.” Like socks and sandals, Kelvin and Joule turned out to be a perfect match. Another interesting thing is that the two animals only have cozy snuggle sessions when Brenna and her family are away. When everyone is around, Joule prefers to be with them and pays little attention to Kelvin. It’s like the two loves to have intimate moments when they’re the only ones left in the house.
Meanwhile, Brenna decided to create an Instagram account dedicated to Joule and Kelvin’s friendship. People from all over the world follow their stories, warmed by their unique and strong bond.
