Hiding Underground
In Oklahoma, two terrified terriers were discovered living inside a drain pipe. Skittish and wary of people, the pair had likely experienced little to no human affection. Rescuer Audray explained that while the dogs would inch close enough to eat from her hand, they refused to be touched or leashed — making the rescue especially challenging.
A Careful Strategy
Determined to get them to safety, Audray devised a plan. She placed food inside a crate, hoping the pups would wander in on their own. After days of patience and careful effort, the plan worked. Both terriers were finally secured, ending their life of hiding underground.
A Foster With Experience
Audray placed the dogs with one of her most trusted foster moms, someone skilled at helping traumatized dogs adjust to home life. The terriers, now named Mimi and Momo, received full vet care, were fixed, groomed, and finally given the comfort they had always been denied.
Healing Through Love
Though still shy, Mimi and Momo are learning what it feels like to be safe. With time, patience, and the gentle care of their foster mom, these once-neglected dogs are slowly transforming into beloved companions. Their rescue is a reminder that even the most broken beginnings can lead to hope and healing.
