This story follows the journey of a stray dog that escaped death, thanks to a Florida groomer and a bunch of other strangers with a good heart.
Groomers can be friends to dogs and their owners in many different ways. These professionals are trained to spot changes in a dog’s body or coat, uncovering any health issues that should be treated. When your pup feels overwhelmed at the grooming salon, the groomers are also there to calm them down and use gentle techniques to make sure they’ll come out all fresh and clean. Sometimes, groomers also put their invisible cape on and go to great lengths to save the life of our furry friends. One such groomer is Kari Falla, who was instrumental in saving the life of a stray dog named Lucky.

The story starts with a stray dog walking on the side of the road with no clear destination in mind. He seemed moving toward the traffic and nearly collided with it. A couple driving near Oviedo, Florida pulled over to check if the dog was alright. What they saw was shocking as the dog wasn’t in the healthiest physical condition. He had fur that was so matted it concealed his face and restricted his mobility. He couldn’t see what’s in front of him and almost got hit. To the couple, he also looked like he has been abandoned.
The couple couldn’t take care of him overnight but they didn’t want to leave him there alone. So they took him into the vehicle and tried to get some help on social media. That’s when Kari Falla came in to rescue the stray dog. When she saw the dog’s terrible condition online, she knew she had to do something immediately because a matted coat can trap the blood near the surface of the skin, causing restricted blood flow and bruising to the dog.
Lucky’s Transformation

Kari opened her BGE Grooming Salon at 3 a.m., terrified of the dog’s condition. According to her, the pup “smelled like death” and was unable to walk because the mats were so thick and they were also infested by fleas. She worked for two hours just to shave off the mats, but it didn’t end there. She also gave him flea baths and hypoallergenic baths. When he’s all clean, Kari took a good look at him and guessed that he was approximately four years old. The people over at BGE Grooming Salon decided to call him Lucky and they waited for his veterinarian visit.

Another surprise was revealed when Lucky went to get the much-needed medical care. The veterinarian discovered that he was blind and deaf, which added to the difficulty he experienced prior to the rescue. It was kind of a miracle that the couple found him, didn’t leave him alone, and got connected with a compassionate groomer.
After the shocking discovery, Lucky was neutered and he also underwent a laser eye surgery. To ensure better health, the veterinarian conducted dental cleaning and also administered vaccines. Another door opened for Lucky when Zachary Blair found him and got inspired by the goodwill that he inspired among a bunch of strangers. They came together, even if it’s the middle of the night, to save the pup’s life. Zachary went on to become his foster dad, showering him lots lots of love and care while making new memories in his new home.

I love a story with a happy ending like this one because it gives me hope that compassion to animals, especially dogs, still exists. I applaud Kari for being so brave and for acting quickly to help Lucky. Also, Zachary was right, it’s really inspiring how everyone worked together to help a dog they haven’t met before. And even those people who worked to save Lucky were complete strangers to each other! This story really proved that a dog’s life (or anyone else’s) can be made bearable by the goodwill of strangers.
