Get Ready for the Story of the Year
The universe works in mysterious ways, and this story can either be considered mysterious or completely fake. Let’s see where this rabbit hole takes us and discover more about who ‘The Dog Daddy’ is along with his one in a million situation where he finds a baby German Shepard in the back seat of an Uber.
This month, a Tiktok account by the name of @thedogdaddy went viral when he was on his way to the airport to head to Coachella for the weekend. But as he got in the Uber, he encountered this cute little face in the back seat.
Unaware of the dog’s presence, the Uber driver who goes by the name of Billy contacted his previous passenger (a woman named Julia) who admitted she had left the puppy there on video 😡. She explained that she couldn’t afford to keep the dog and believed the Uber driver, who seemed kind-hearted, could provide a good home for it.
Unfortunately, Billy the driver was unable to take the puppy due to his housing situation. Fortunately, “The Dog Daddy” was delighted to adopt the dog, and he named him Rolex. The puppy’s rescue story quickly captured the hearts of millions of people online, giving Rolex his viral moment.
“Dude it was crazy,” Billy the driver said. “I’m so glad you were the one that got in this car.”
You said it, Billy. 😨
The Previous Owner Returns with Threats of Violence
As the puppy gained fame, the original owner, seeing potential profit, demanded the dog back. However, “The Dog Daddy” firmly refused, ready to defend his new pet legally if necessary, citing the owner’s initial abandonment.
He records the phone call and they exchange a quick back and forth, when she then decides that $5,000 would be acceptable for him to pay. He quickly agreed to the terms, to then have her change her mind, claiming that she’ll make more money with the dog on social media and changes her mind.
The tense exchange gets even more wild when she starts to issue threats on the phone call, making this encounter more dangerous.
After this heated exchange The Dog Daddy continued to post Rolex on his social media; so as of right now, he has custody of the dog posting social media posts. He also claimed to have gotten a restraining order and to have blocked her phone.
Truth Versus Reality For Social Media Clout
Before we make a judgement call and call this story heart warming with a happy ending (sigh), let’s play devil’s advocate and question this coincidence. I know I said the world works in mysterious ways, but this may not be one of them. I’m going to outline some key points that may bring some speculation to the story. Take what you will with this information.
The Dog Daddy’s Banned
The “Dog Daddy” is controversial dog trainer, Augusto Deoliveira, who has quite a negative social footprint prior to this amazing rescue. He has had protestors shut down his appearances over the last few years due to his abusive practices and methods of dog training. This isn’t just one or two competitors lashing out either; The entire dog training community condemns his practice and even the American Veterinary Medical Association has issued an official statement. I’m surprised he’s still getting any work these days. The guy needs someone to throw him a bone.
Fake Video Scenarios Aren’t New to the Dog Daddy
After scanning through his social media channels, Augusto has learned that his audience loves to believe the scenarios he provides are real, when they are clearly staged. This pattern could be a major factor when he decided to come up with a rescue scenario in an Uber. Instead of just introducing a sixth dog to his home, why not make it seem like he was abandoned?
Is The First Video Worth an Oscar?
The video that went viral originally was a video with some heartfelt music, captions, and the video of a cute and innocent dog.
But that wasn’t the first cut. The first video occurs outside of his home in an Uber with an Uber driver named ‘Billy’ who gets on the phone to call the previous owner, a woman by the name of Julia. The driver’s reaction to the dog is a pretty big red flag, if we’re being honest. Billy needs to work on that improv.
How was Augusto able to capture the Uber driver’s initial reaction of having a dog in the car? I’ve also noticed that his camera was well mounted on the center console during this phone call giving him a perfect video frame with the car’s interior lights on.
The Coachella Timeline Doesn’t Match Up
Augusto claimed he was on his way to the airport to Coachella in his previous stories, however the video was posted on April 8th. Coachella (Weekend 1) doesn’t start until April 12th. As someone who has been to Coachella before; it’s very rare for someone to be in the area for a full week prior to the music festival.
The Puppy Happens to Be a German Shepard
Despite the Dog Daddy’s claim that German Shepards are the most common dog; he doesn’t understand that there is data that can rebuke his claim. In fact, in the state of Arizona, only 6% of dogs are German Shepards.
The Lavish Attire Doesn’t Match the Reality
If you spend time looking at the Dog Daddy social media accounts, you can see Augusto’s love for faux fashion, a luxury lifestyle that includes high performance yellow vehicles, including his most recent car, a yellow Chevy Corvette Stingray convertible.
The State of Arizona took Deoliveira to court for “Vegetation Standards Violation” on 6/23/2023 and DeOliveira never appeared. What is Vegetation Standards Violation? Quite simply, growing weeds and not taking care of your lawn.
From the Dog Club
When I first was attracted to this piece, it was meant to give praise and a spotlight to someone that saved a poor little puppy, because a handful of media outlets went with the story without doing any research. But the moment I started gathering data, I had a feeling it’s a complete sham. It’s just unfortunate that people fall for these types of scams and will give these clout chasers their money or attention.
