Some dogs are unlucky enough to have the early years of their life stolen from them because of their terrible and greedy owners. They’re just unfortunate enough to be in the hands of someone who has other purposes in mind, just like Lotus, who was used as a breeding dog by her previous owners.
To make matters worse, she was also left in a house fire, causing her to sustain skin injuries that nearly cost her life. But all this changed when Lotus started living with her new mama named Kristen while coping with her trauma. This was the first time that she felt someone was there for her.
Despite bearing both the physical and emotional scars, Lotus has consistently shown that she is a strong one because she’s always happy. She gives off positivity and happiness everywhere she goes, as she can be seen wagging her tail.

Kristen has shared a lot of memories with Lotus, but one that she will always remember is how she first saw Lotus excited over something: her pink piggy toy. She was always seen carrying her piggy toy in her mouth and wagging her tail in excitement at the sight of it.
With this, Mom Kristen surprised Lotus in the hallway of their home. Can you guess what it is? Yup, you’re right; they’re new piggy toys in different sizes! As soon as Lotus noticed it, he was over the moon. At first, he couldn’t decide what to get as he hurried into the pack, but then later, he took the small one and started playing with it.

Lotus’ Journey to Healing
When Lotus was first brought to her new owner’s home, she showed no signs of fear. Instead, she is looking for something to lean on and rest her head. For a couple of months, she just stayed inside the house while recovering from her injuries while her new owners were getting her the medical treatments that she needed.
Looking at her injuries sustained from the fire, there are huge pink burns all over her body, but that didn’t stop Kristen from getting to know Lotus, which, in return, deepened their bond.
As soon as Lotus showed signs of healing, Kristen slowly brought her to the outside world so that she could explore more of her new environment. Kristen noted that one of the most endearing things that Lotus could do is lie on the sidewalk while waiting for someone to pet her. It’s amazing how Lotus could still be trusting of strangers despite the trauma that she went through.

Dog’s Toys as Security Blankets
Growing up, we probably had our security blankets or stuffed toys we would never let anyone use or lay a hand on. Even in adulthood, this childhood stuff can still be seen lying around our bed as some of us have never fully recovered from it, so I guess we all understand Lotus’ fondness for her piggy stuff toy. But why are dogs choosing a specific toy only when they have a lot of toys that they can choose from? Here is why.
- Marking Their Territory – We all know that dogs tend to be territorial when it comes to their food and their spaces. It’s actually the same thing with their toy, where they assert ownership.
- Giving Them Comfort – Similar to what we feel about our comfort blankies, dogs may also feel the same with their toys. It may be because it carries your scent, so whenever they place the toy near you, it means that your dog trusts you.
- It Feels Good in Their Mouth – Certain toys feel good in the mouth compared with their other toys. For instance, chew toys can be appealing to them, which is the reason why you can see them always carrying them around.

From The Club
Lotus reminds me a lot of my chihuahua, Lilygirl, who loves carrying her toys around. The only difference is that she can play with any toy given to her. But unlike Lotus, my Lilygirl is a destroyer since she destroys a lot of her toys due to excessively rough playing. This is the same reason why I don’t buy her expensive toys. Oh well, dogs do really differ from one another. 🤣
