Once again, it’s Thanksgiving season, which means we’ll have a lot of leftover home-cooked meals for the rest of the days ahead! If you’re a fur mom or dad, you know, giving your fur babies their share from the dinner table is tempting. But as much as we want them to try out the food that we’re eating, we have to be cautious of the food that we give to them. No amount of cuteness or puppy eyes shall let you give in to their request!

To guide you toward the toxic food items you need to watch out for, the American Kennel Club released a list of unsafe food for your dogs to eat. Keep in mind the following listed food, as you might also want to warn your family members or guests not to give them any. Below are the Thanksgiving foods deemed unsafe:

Thanksgiving Dinner

If you’re looking for a meal that has it all, go for the Thanksgiving Dinner recipe by The Bark. It has all of the safe ingredients for your dogs, such as turkey, sweet potatoes, and cranberries. Simply combine all of them to create a heart Thanksgiving dinner for them.

What you need:

  • 3 pounds of skinless and cooked turkey pieces
  • 1 cup of cooked oatmeal
  • 1 pound of sweet potatoes
  • Four tablespoons of cranberry sauce

Instructions:

Simply combine all the ingredients in your dog’s bowl and mix it.

Thanksgiving Dessert Platter

After a hearty dinner, you can arrange for a Thanksgiving Dessert Platter for your dog with ingredients that are safe for them to consume. You can get the following ingredients from your dinner table already, so you don’t need to buy them outside. Here’s how to create a Thanksgiving Dinner Platter for your dog.

What you need:

  • Sweet potatoes
  • Cranberries
  • Apple slices
  • Pumpkin

Instructions:

Simply arrange them on your dog’s bowl, or you can choose to give them in portions. As much as these food items are safe for dogs, it is important to consume them in moderation so as not to affect your dog’s health.

From The Club

It’s good that the American Kennel Club released a guide for owners on not what to feed their dogs this Thanksgiving season. Admittedly, it can be confusing to what we can or cannot feed them when trying to research online; I guess it all boils down to making sure that you know if your dog has allergies and taking note of the extremely poisonous food for them such as chocolates and raisins. Also, beware of the salty and tasty food, as they can be silent killers. Let us enjoy Thanksgiving, knowing that we are all safe. Happy Thanksgiving to all fur parents and fur babies out there!
