A person accused of dog theft in Los Angeles was apprehended after allegedly taking a French bulldog and driving away with the dog’s owner clinging to the car’s hood. The Los Angeles Police Department arrested 21-year-old Sadie Slater in Inglewood on Saturday and set her bail at $70,000, according to ABC 7.

The status of the stolen dog, a black Merle French bulldog named Onyx, remains uncertain regarding whether it has been recovered or returned to its owner.
The theft occurred during broad daylight, around 2:30 p.m. on January 18. Onyx’s owner, Ali Zacharias, was eating with her pet at the Whole Foods located at Grand Avenue and Eighth Street when a woman unexpectedly began calling to the dog.
The woman proceeded to grab Onyx’s leash and walk away, an act Zacharias initially perceived as a misunderstanding, she explained to KTLA.
